Juhani Holma is the EKD's first "Wittenberg Resident"

The Finnish theologian begins sabbatical in the "Lutherstadt"

Juhani Holma has been designated as "Wittenberg resident" of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). The appointment of the 51-year old theologian und church music director from Finland was announced this Tuesday in the town of Luther by Prelate Stephan Dorgerloh, the EKD director for the Luther Decade.

Holma is the first participant in the "International Wittenberg Resident" program. At the invitation of the EKD, he will "reside" in Wittenberg and will collaborate with the office of the director on various Luther Decade projects, act as host to international and ecumenical visitors, and conduct public dialogues and discussions.

Holma will also be involved in scholarly research on the subject of Reformation theology, and will provide detailed information on Luther Decade events, projects and opportunities, in particular, to his home church in Finland.
